Vans Warped Tour 2017 at Merriweather Post Pavilion, Columbia, MD

A fun filled day of excitement, meet and greets, merchandise and performances is how you could sum up this years Vans Warped Tour. This summer, I was fortunate enough to cover almost a dozen bands including: Silverstein, After the Burial, Counterparts, Blessthefall, Memphis May Fire, Being as an Ocean, Fit for a King, Hundredth, Knocked Loose, Neck Deep and Beartooth. Be sure to check out separate photo galleries for Neck Deep an Beartooth.

Overall, I had an amazing experience being able to photograph so many artists in one day. Each band put on high energy performances that were very entertaining to shoot. After setting up for Warped Tour and tearing it down everyday, you’d think everyone would be tired and worn out, but there was not one performance that I witnessed that disappointed me. The summer long event came to Columbia, MD on July 16th and later on ended in Pomona, CA on August 6th.

When the Warped Tour attendees weren’t watching a performance, there were plenty of activities that could keep everyone busy. One activity, being hanging around the Truth bus that hosts games which result in prizes for anyone interested in playing. Can’t take the heat? There’s a water slide available to let people cool down and have some fun in the sun! There are also multiple merchandise tables where fans were able purchase their favorite artists’ apparel, as well as other clothing brands that may be there. As mentioned in my pre-Warped Tour post, there were Entertainment Institute (TEI) workshops that were held and attended by fans. These workshops included one on one interactions with bands speaking in depth about certain subjects such as song writing, developing a band, being confident, etc. Fans may also be lucky enough to meet some of their favorite bands while waiting around for a performance.

Interested in attending Vans Warped Tour next year? Be sure to keep up with their website: vanswarpedtour.com. They usually start announcing new artists performing on the tour around the month of September.
