2017 Windy City Smokeout – Luke Combs

Bub City and Lettuce Entertain You celebrated the fourth annual “Windy City Smokeout,” which took place July 14th-16th, 2017. Front Row Music News was there to cover Sunday’s festivities, which featured 12 great country artists. Luke Combs performed on Sunday, July 16, along with the headliner Lee Brice, as well as Shawn Lacy, Sunny Sweeney, Brandy Clark, William Clark Green, Stoney LaRue, Mike Ryan, Ryan HurdJon LangstonMuscadine Bloodline, and Brandon Lay

Luke Combs’ performance was in support of his debut album, This One’s for You, which was released on June 2, 2017, via Columbia Nashville.  A highlight of the evening was Combs’ closing song “Hurricane” off the new album.  Combs thanked the Windy City Smokeout audience, “I want to thank country radio, especially here in Chicago for playing the hell out of this song. This is my first single in country radio. My first #1 song.”  You could hear that the audience was very familiar with the song as they cheered and sang along when Combs yelled out, “How loud can you get Chicago?” And the packed crowd sang back:

Then you rolled in with your hair in the wind
Baby, without warning
‘Cause I was doin’ alright but just your sight
Had my heart stormin’
