On June 23, 2016, Joe Walsh and Bad Company brought their ‘One Hell of a Night’ tour to FirstMerit Bank Pavilion at Northerly Island in Chicago. The 25 shows kicked off on May 12th in Dallas, TX and will end in Nashville TN on July 3rd.  As co-headliners they are rotating the headlining spot each show. For the Chicago show, Joe Walsh was the opener. It must have been a long bus ride based on Walsh’s quote: “I told Paul, if it’s a long bus ride I go first!” For the night, the weather was perfect, especially compared to the previous day which brought heavy storms and lightning. Walsh even made reference to it, stating, “Nice night for a concert. I’ll take it over last night.”

With a career which spans more than four decades, Joe Walsh’s set-list for the night played more like a greatest hits performance. Fans’ were delighted with favorite songs from his solo career, as well as when he was a member of the James Gang, and the Eagles. The set list was really “One Hell of a Night” with songs which included: “Walk Away,” “Funk 49,” “Life’s Been Good To Me So Far,” “Life In The Fast Lane,” and “Rocky Mountain Way”, just to name a few. Highlights of the night were: performing cover of Sly & the Family Stone song “Everyday People”; dedication of Eagles song, “Take It to the Limit” to “my brethren, Glenn Frey”; transition from “Funk 49” to James Brown’s song “Get Up Offa That Thing” back to “Funk 49”; and the fans who really contributed to the show with their “UGH” during “Rocky Mountain Way” and nailed it!

The touring band supporting Joe Walsh on stage were some of his backing band members from his record-setting solo Walsh Tour 2015, including Joe Vitale, his Barnstorm bandmate on drums and adding Chad Cromwell on drums; Waddy Wachtel on guitar; Larry Young on bass and Jimmy Wallace on keyboards. Leslie Fuller, Connie Jackson, Windy Wagner and Rickey Washington will be background singers and Clayton Janes on samples.
