The Struts at House of Blues in Chicago

On top of their headlining show back in March at The Metro, as well as their supporting performance for the Foo Fighters at Wrigley field this past summer, The Struts, were back in Chicago for two sold out shows on November 23-24, 2018.  Presented by Chicago’s alternative radio station, 101WKQX, The Struts, on their current The Body Talk Tour 2018, were at the House of Blues in Chicago.  101WKQX continued to build their relationship with The Struts, as one of their early performances in Chicago was for the radio station’s, The Night’s We Stole Christmas concert in 2015.

Formed in 2010, The Struts, are out of Derby, Derbyshire. The four-piece band includes: Luke Spiller on lead vocals (and apparently piano and harmonica based on the shows we just attended); Adam Slack on guitar and backing vocals; Jed Elliott on bass guitar and backing vocals; and Gethin Davies on drums and percussion.

Starting out each night with “Primadonna Like Me,” Spiller spilled out the opening lyrics “Hey you, don’t you know who I think I am?”  Well, the audiences of the two sold out shows were about to find out, if they didn’t know already.  The Struts never disappoint to bring boundless high energy and glam with their stage presence. From start to finish during the 2-hour performance, The Struts had the audience singing and dancing along to every song.  For both nights, the setlists included the same songs with the only change between the two nights being swapping the order for Dirty Sexy Money and Fire (Part 1).  With their “sophomore” album, Young & Dangerous, released on October 26, 2018 through Interscope Records, it gave the band the opportunity to mix the show nicely with both new and older songs. Both nights even included a cover of Bruce Springsteen’s “Dancing in the Dark” where they reenacted the video with someone from the audience joining the band on stage like Courtney Cox. Both performances were amazing.

If you haven’t seen The Struts live yet, what are you waiting for! Be sure to keep up with the latest information and tour dates at The Struts website: thestruts.com.
