Summerfest, the “Big Gig,” celebrated its 55th edition in 2023, enchanting music enthusiasts with its vibrant sounds, flavors, and festivities. As the World’s Largest Music Festival, Summerfest continued its tradition of delivering unparalleled entertainment, spanning over three weekends from June 22nd to 24th for Week 1, June 29th to July 1st for Week 2 and July 6th to 8th for Week 3. From iconic headliners to emerging talents, the festival’s 75-acre grounds pulsated with the rhythm of diverse musical genres, ensuring an unforgettable experience for attendees.
Summerfest 2023 Headliners
2023 American Family Insurance Amphitheater Headliners:
Although a separate ticket is required for the headliners of the American Family Insurance Amphitheater, the artists are always a big draw for Summerfest. For Summerfest 2023, the headliners included:
- 6/22: Eric Church (with Elle King)
- 6/23: Zac Brown Band (with Marcus King)
- 6/24: James Taylor & His All-Star Band (with Sheryl Crow)
- 6/29: Dave Matthews Band
- 6/30: ODESZA (with a Bonobo DJ set)
- 7/1: A BOOGIE WIT DA HOODIE (with Trippie Redd & City Girls)
- 7/6: Yung Gravy
- 7/7: Zach Bryan
- 7/8: Imagine Dragons
Which Days I Attended
After careful consideration, I chose five days this year. I selected two days from Summerfest Weekend 1: June 22 and 23, then the three days of Weekend 3: July 6, 7 and 8.
Weekend 1, June 22 – 24, 2023
Week 1 kicked off with a bang on June 22nd, drawing crowds eager to immerse themselves in the eclectic lineup of artists. From the legendary bluesman Buddy Guy (see my photo gallery HERE) to the indie-pop sensations Tegan & Sara, the stages came alive with a symphony of talent. Highlights included the soulful melodies of Mindi Abair, the infectious energy of Bleachers, and the captivating performances by emerging acts like Bad Skin, Allison Ponthier and Paris Paloma. Each day brought a fresh wave of excitement, culminating in an unforgettable fusion of music and camaraderie.

Weekend 3, July 6 – 8, 2023
Week 3 kept the momentum going, treating festival-goers to another round of electrifying performances from July 6th to 8th. From the alternative rock vibes of Dinosaur Jr. to the infectious energy of YUNGBLUD, the lineup catered to a wide array of musical tastes. Notable acts such as Japanese Breakfast, The Pretty Reckless, and Imagine Dragons electrified the stages, while lesser-known gems like Hailey Whitters and Morgan Wade left a lasting impression with their raw talent and authenticity. As the festival drew to a close, attendees were left with cherished memories and a renewed appreciation for the power of live music.

Summerfest 2023 – Conclusion
From iconic headliners to hidden gems, Summerfest 2023 delivered a musical extravaganza like no other. As attendees reminisced about the unforgettable moments shared amidst the festival’s vibrant atmosphere, anticipation mounted for what promises to be an even bigger and better celebration in the years to come.
