AJR: Somewhere In The Sky Tour 2025

On July 27, 2025, AJR brought their Somewhere in the Sky Tour to Credit Union 1 Amphitheatre in Tinley Park, IL. The band delivered an immersive set full of clever visuals, crowd interactions, and genre-bending hits. With support from Madilyn Mei, Valley, Cavetown, and Lawrence, the evening unfolded like a perfectly curated mixtape. Each act added their own spark. Together, they made the Sunday show feel anything but ordinary.

The Show

Madilyn Mei

Kicking things off, Madilyn Mei brought soft vocals and whimsical storytelling. Hailing from San Tan Valley, Arizona, she’s been performing since 2020. Her songs blended indie-folk and lo-fi pop with humor and heart. “Call Me the Band” and “What’s Going On!?” drew curious listeners in early. For more, visit madilynmei.com.

Valley

Next came Valley, a polished indie-pop band from Toronto. Formed in 2014, this Juno-nominated group delivered rich harmonies and infectious hooks. Tracks from their 2024 album Water the Flowers, Pray for a Garden like “Bass Player’s Brother” and “When You Know Someone” stood out. Their upbeat presence kept the energy climbing. Cavetown

Third in the lineup, Cavetown gave a more introspective set. Known offstage as Robin Skinner, he started releasing music over a decade ago. Hailing from Cambridge, UK, his sound blends bedroom pop, acoustic folk, and emotional honesty. Fans swayed gently as he played soft, confessional tracks. More info at cave.town.

Lawrence

Before AJR, Lawrence brought the soul-pop party in full force. The New York-based sibling duo, Clyde and Gracie Lawrence, fronted their eight-piece band with nonstop charisma. Formed in 2013, the group blends pop, funk, R&B, and infectious grooves. They opened with Casualty, followed by the energetic 23 and the introspective Guy I Used To Be. Then things turned playful with Hip Replacement, their signature mix of sharp lyrics and danceable beats. A surprise cover of Britney Spears’ Toxic got the crowd singing. After that, they moved into the catchy Do You Wanna Do Nothing With Me? and crowd favorite Don’t Lose Sight. Closing their set with Whatcha Want, Lawrence let the crowd energized and ready for the main event.

AJR

AJR finally took over the stage. They came with an audio-visual playground. Clever animations, stage tricks, and crowd cues added layers to each song. Their songs felt cinematic yet fun. They switched from big hits to acoustic moments. Then they bounced between crowd interaction and high energy.

From the opener Way Less Sad, the set moved fast. Songs like Karma, Yes I’m a Mess, and The Good Part hit with impact. A stripped-down moment came with Inertia, sung solo by Ryan. Crowd favorites like Burn the House Down, Bang!, and 100 Bad Days got major reactions. “How We Made” and point-out segments offered playful breaks. Performing in the crowd, AJR delivered World’s Smallest Violin and Wow, I’m Not Crazy. Later, they rolled through a medley: Come Hang Out, I’m Not Famous, I’m Ready, Break My Face, and Finale. Near the end, Sober Up included a dramatic drum moment. The encore brought Weak, merging earlier songs with a marching band and digital fireworks finish. Overall the show felt dynamic, personal, and polished.

Conclusion

In conclusion the concert felt memorable and fun. Each opener added flavor and set the mood. AJR delivered a balanced, thoughtful, and energetic main set. The show was funny, creative, and tightly crafted. Despite the heat and humidity, the entire night left fans satisfied and buzzing for the performances they had just experienced.
