On September 3, 2019, 93XRT proudly presented soul, R&B, rock artist, Devon Gilfillian, as special guest opening for the sold-out St. Paul and The Broken Bones at the intimate Classic Cinemas Tivoli Theatre in Downers Grove, IL.  Devon Gilfillian is a talented Nashville-based singer-songwriter and bandleader who grew up outside Philadelphia, who currently resides in Nashville, TN.  On stage, along with Devon Gilfillian on lead vocals and guitar were Taylor Thompson on bass, Carson Cody on keyboards and Jonathan Smalt on drums.

As 93XRT weekday afternoon host, Richard Milne, introduced Devon Gilfillian, it’s the reason you get to show’s early and see the opening artist.  The night’s set mixed various songs released by Gilfillian over the past few years, as well as a surprise song. Highlights from the evening included but not limited to:   

• Kicked off with “Here and Now” off his electrifying 2016 self-titled debut five-song EP
• “Get Out and Get It” which is his first single off his forthcoming full-length album on Capitol.
• Also from his forthcoming debut album, newest single released last month, the emotional, “Even Though It Hurts“
• A surprise thrown into the mix, as Gilfillian and his band performed a customized rendition of TLC’s “Waterfalls” with Carson Cody embedding rap verses into the song. 
• Closing out the night, Devon Gilfillian jammed with Taylor Thompson, then was on his knees with the upbeat single from 2018, “Troublemaker”

After his energizing soulful R&B performance, Gilfillian spent the rest of the evening shaking hands, giving hugs, signing autographs, talking to and taking selfies with existing fans, as well as many new ones.  Upon leaving the venue after St. Paul and the Broken Bones performance, he was still there doing a meet and greet with a happy smile and plenty of people waiting to meet him.
