DISPATCH is back on the road this summer, and they’re making a stop at Ravinia Festival in Highland Park on June 21. The folk-rock group is bringing along a powerhouse lineup: John Butler (with band), G. Love & Special Sauce, Donavon Frankenreiter, and Illiterate Light.

This run of shows follows the announcement of DISPATCH’s upcoming album, Yellow Jacket, due out June 6. The new single, “Whisk Me Away,” features longtime member Matthew Embree on lead vocals—a first for the band. The track dives deep, balancing themes of life and death over layered guitars and driving rhythm.

Formed in Vermont in the mid-90s, DISPATCH built a massive following without major label backing. Known for mixing folk, rock, and roots sounds, they’ve stayed active for over two decades, all while keeping social issues at the heart of their work.

Yellow Jacket brings them back to their Boston roots, recorded with producer Craig Welsch. The album leans into reggae and ska influences while reflecting on social and political unrest. Tracks include “Johnny Whoops,” “Trinket” (featuring John Butler), and “In the Street” (with Ani DiFranco).

If you’re heading to Ravinia, expect a full night of music that spans styles—from folk to funk, roots rock to jam grooves. With this lineup, there’s something for every live music fan.

Tickets are available through the Ravinia Festival website.
