Lil Baby’s The New Generation Tour at The Riviera Theatre in Chicago

On April 1st, 2019, the 2018 Rookie-of-the-Year, Lil Baby, brought The New Generation Tour to a packed Riviera Theatre in Chicago. The lineup was full of talent that evening featuring&nbsp: Quality Control Music labelmates Lil Baby, City Girls, Marlo and Jordan Hollywood; Cash Money Records’ Blueface; along with 42 Dugg.  This was just one of many stops on The New Generation Tour. The show included songs from Lil Baby’s Harder Than Ever, which debuted at #3, Street Gossip which debuted at #2, Drip Harder which also debuted at #3 on the Billboard Top 200 chart.

The Riviera Theatre filled up quickly on one of the first nice nights in Chicago. With so much talent on the lineup, it was difficult to get a feeling of just which artist fans came to see most.  The first act was, Jordan Hollywood.  Hollywood began the night right as he came out with high energy, talking directly to the crowd.  Hollywood pleased all the Lil Baby fans, as well his own fans, with his single “LET ME FIND OUT” featuring Lil Baby. Jordan also showed off his producing talents creating a melody on stage. Under Jordan’s management includes DJ SkipOnDaBeat who produced songs such as Kodak Blacks, “Skrt Skrt”.

The next artist was a surprise appearance from 42 Dugg, who has been showing promise coming out of Detroit. He showed why he has taken notice from Lil Baby’s team performing singles, “Tripping” and “Free Mines”.

After that surprise appearance was rapper, Marlo, who showed his abilities performing, “Anything Goes” (which feat Lil Baby on the record) off his most recent album, The Real1. Marlo showed why he was signed to Quality Control, energizing the crowd before his label-mate, Lil Baby, took the stage later in the night.

Blueface was the fourth act of the night and when he stepped on the stage, there was an energy in the room you could feel. The crowd went back and forth with Blueface as he would say, “Blueface,” they would respond with, “Baby!” The crowd exploded word for word when Blueface performed his hit song, “Bust Down Thotiana” and arguably just as good “Bleed It”.

The crowd was fully invested by the time The City Girls, the fifth act, came out and there was no stopping from there. Yung Miami busted onto the stage with two backup dancers to “Take Yo Man” showing off all they had and putting it into their performance. Miami, despite missing her other half, made up for it by also pulling up multiple girls to show off what they had next to her on stage during, “Twerk” (feat. Cardi B on the record).

After so many great artists had taken the stage the only one left was the headline, Lil Baby. Lil Baby took over the Riviera and was greeted to what was a packed general admission audience. He performed crowd favorites such as, “Drip Too Hard” (feat. Gunna), “Yes Indeed” (feat. Drake), and one of my favorites “Pure Cocaine”. Lil Baby also brought out two Chicago rappers which was a treat to his Chicago fans. The crowd left happy on that April Fools Day and there were no jokes at the Riv.
