On Friday, October 29, 2021, Philadelphia rock and roll band, Low Cut Connie brought their high-energy live performance to Thalia Hall in Chicago 2021. After nearly a year and a half of livestreaming about 650 songs from his South Philadelphia home, Adam Weiner along with guitarist Will Donnelly were ready to get out with their “Tough Cookies” fans again. Along with Weiner and Donnelly, the eight-piece band included Abigail Dempsey on guitar, violin and background vocals, Linwood Kirk, Jarae Lewis and Attis made up the three-man rhythm section and rounding out the stage were backup singers Kia Warren and Liza Colby, who pulled double duty as one of the opening artists for the show with their band SUSU. Also opening the night was Chicago’s own, Nathan Graham.

From the start to finish, the stage was a fury of excitement, from Weiner on the piano, literally, to the back up singers Warren and Colby, to Donnelly on guitar and back to Dempsey on guitar, not to mention the three man rhythm section in the back. Although the entire night was magical, a few specific highlights come to mind:

• First live performance of “It Don’t Take A Genius”
• Fan favorite and dedication to Weiner’s hero, Tina Turner, “Shake It Little Tina”
• Also, dedication to Charlie Watts with “It’s Only Rock and Roll”
• Fan in the audience in Cookie Monster costume, because he’s a “Tough Cookie”
• Weiner with a solo piano performance of “Look What They Did”
• Also solo for “Little Red Corvette” off of the recent release, Tough Cookie: Best of the Quarantine Broadcasts
• Chicago favorite, “Boozophilia” with the lyrics, “We’re on the south-side of Chicago”
• Three song encore: “Stay as Long as You Like” , “Nobody Else Will Believe You”, “Private Lives”
• Approximately 2 hours of fun, live music
