Welcome To Rockville 2018 – Day 1
Welcome To Rockville – Metropolitan Park, Jacksonville, Florida.
If anyone missed Welcome To Rockville this year, you missed a great lineup and three awesome days of continuous music!! With so many amazing artists performing on three stages each day, we set each day with a separate write-up. Each day’s write-up, contains links to the galleries. Unfortunately, all the bands on three stages couldn’t be covered by just one person, but I my best to cover as many as I could.
Here are the ones I caught from Day 1.
Starting off Welcome to Rockville for 2018 was the band called, Palisades, who will be touring with Jonathan Davis from Korn this year. Palisades is a group of five guys from New Jersey that brings excitement to the stage, you definitely do not want to miss this group if they come around.
The band 68 was a great band that consisted of only two guys. Although there were only two guys, they brought their enthusiasm to the crowd and put on an awesome performance. They were crawling around the floor and throwing there guitar as high as they could and still didn’t miss a beat.
The next band Texas Hippie Coalition was just awesome from the very beginning all the way to the end. This band consist of four people and obviously from the state of Texas. They consider themselves as Red Dirt Metal sound which is there sound of outlaw country, southern classic rock and mixed with Texas power grooves. This was definitely a band that stood out and wanted more when they were finished.
The next band Bad Wolves consisted of five people and was on the third stage and definitely after watching them they are one of the next up and coming bands. Bad Wolves has a metal sound to them, but also are more diverse and has a more mellow side as well as they redid the song “Zombie” from The Cranberries. If they come around, you will want to check this group out.
The next band Underoath was a great band and brought all that they had. Having just come out with their last album “Erase Me” they were ready to give the crowd what they came for. Playing songs from their newest album all the way back to their oldest, they definitely had the crowd singing along with them
Parkway Drive was another band that really brought their “A” game. Not knowing what to expect from them, they for sure gained many new fans this day. They are an Australian band and just came out with their new album called “Reverence” which is an album you surely do not want to miss out on. They played many new songs from this album as well as their older songs which all of their fans know.
The next band to talk about is Five Finger Death Punch, also known as, FFDP. FFDP was such a great concert to go to as they are just about to come out with a new album. Although, during the acoustical set where Ivan forgot the words to his own songs, they were definitely what you would expect from a group such as themselves, high energy and crowd involvement.
The biggest band of the night where they had everyone’s attention the whole time was Godsmack. From the very beginning to the end they had the crowd going, singing along all of their music. Their performance with the music, lights, fire and everything else was just unbelievable and if you missed this performance you for sure missed out. They just came out with their new album “When Legends Rise” which is definitely worth a listen to.
The last person to finish the night off is a multi-platinum recording artist, a three time Grammy winner, and who has sold over 120 million albums worldwide and that would be Ozzy Osbourne (unfortunately, due to restrictions, we were unable to photograph his set). Now Ozzy, even at the age that he is now, gave an awesome show that went on for a long time and didn’t disappoint. Of course he sang all of his songs that everyone knows and what everyone expects from him. He definitely has a large following and you will not want to miss his performance!
