On May 18th, Canadian punk band, Sum 41, rolled into Chicago with openers Seaway and SuperWhatevr in tow in support of the 15 year anniversary tour for the band’s second album, Does This Look Infected. Sum 41 released their sophomore album in the winter of 2002, and on this album the band explored a heavier sound and more serious lyrics than their first record. The album went certified Platinum in Canada and Gold in the United States.

SuperWhatevr opened with their west coast sound and Seaway kept the party going with their own brand of Canadian pop punk. The crowd was more than ready by the time Sum 41 opened their set with “The Hell Song” along side confetti canons exploding, a full light show, and smoke machines. The band, lead by frontman Deryck Whibley, kept up the energy for the whole set, and I witnessed several epic circle pits throughout the 20 songs they performed. Sum 41 left the stage after performing “Hooch”, and the crowd called them back out for an epic three song encore, closing the night with “Walking Disaster” and finally “Fat Lip”.
