The Beaches Blame My Ex Tour

On Thursday, February 29th, Canadian rock band The Beaches, along with support by indie rock duo Boyish, made their stop in Madison, Wisconsin at the Majestic Theatre for their Blame My Ex Tour. Previously, the group has rocked out at Wisconsin’s largest music event, Summerfest, in Milwaukee (see photos at The Beaches at Summerfest 2023).

Boyish

Originally forming in Boston, Massachusetts before moving to New York City, indie rock group Boyish has been making music together since 2016. Lead vocalist India Shore and guitarist Claire Attendahl came out onto the stage with ample energy. Shore and her light, haunting vocals, enchanted the audience and prepared them perfectly for The Beaches to take the floor.

The Beaches

Canadian rock band The Beaches was founded in Toronto back in 2013. They chose to name themselves after the neighborhood where three of the four founding members grew up. The band has seen success throughout the years with their debut studio album Late Show and their various EPs. They are currently touring to promote their second album Blame My Ex, released just last year. In recent weeks, The Beaches have even made an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel, performing the hit song, “Blame Brett” from Blame My Ex.

The Beaches began their set with “T-Shirt”, a high-energy song from their debut album. During the opening number, Leandra Earl flashed Enman-McDaniel during a lyric about the “itty bitty titty committee”. Then, the group greeted the audience and launched into banter about their previous experiences in the state. Lead vocalist Jordan Miller spoke about her experiences at Summerfest, going on a date with a Canadian rapper while there. Guitarist Kylie Miller told the crowd about her love for Wisconsin’s cheese curds. She even continued by saying how Wisconsin’s curds surpass what is served with poutine in Canada.

From there, the band launched into an explosive set filled with all their hits. The songs are earworms, to say the least. They had every member of the crowd screaming and dancing along. Their performance was a hit-filled, energetic showcase, making it a must-see for potential audiences.

Conclusion

The Beaches was not just a concert; it was a celebration of rock music, camaraderie, and the unbreakable bond between performers and their fans. As the final notes echoed through the venue, it was clear that The Beaches had left an indelible mark on Madison, leaving fans eagerly awaiting their next tour stop.
