Two Door Cinema Club in San Francisco 2024
Two Door Cinema Club
The 2024 Two Door Cinema Club Tour has been nothing short of spectacular. Kicking off in Atlanta, the band’s largest U.S. tour to date has taken them coast-to-coast, with fans reveling in their iconic mix of post-punk and dance-driven beats. With stops in major cities like Chicago (be sure to see our post of Two Door Cinema Club from the Chicago show during leg one of the tour), Portland, and Houston, their September 17 show at The Masonic in San Francisco was a highlight. I was lucky enough to align my travel plans with this date, flying in from Chicago and catching the performance—which did not disappoint.
Petey
Opening for Two Door Cinema Club, Petey brought his signature blend of energetic indie rock and a twist of his quirky, relatable humor. From heartfelt tracks like “Lean Into Life” to fan-favorite “Apple TV Remote,” his set had the crowd engaged from the first note to the last. His authenticity shone through as he performed tracks like “The Freedom to Fuck Off” and “DON’T TELL THE BOYS,” striking the perfect balance between vulnerability and fun.
The Show
Then, Two Door Cinema Club took the stage. Their setlist was stacked with everything a fan could hope for, from newer singles like “Sure Enough” to classics like “Something Good Can Work” and “What You Know.” Each song hit harder than the last, with Alex Trimble’s vocals perfectly on point and the band’s dance-rock energy spreading through the venue. Whether it was the nostalgic vibes of “Cigarettes in the Theatre” or the infectious beat of “I Can Talk,” they had the crowd hooked the entire night.
With a back catalog that spans five stellar albums, Two Door Cinema Club showed why they’ve remained relevant since their 2010 debut. Their ability to effortlessly switch between post-punk anthems and disco-influenced hits, like “Lavender” and “Bad Decisions,” had the audience dancing from start to finish. The band’s stage presence was undeniable, especially during fan-favorites “Undercover Martyn” and “Sun.”
Conclusion
Leaving The Masonic, I couldn’t help but feel grateful to have timed my San Francisco trip with such an epic show. Two Door Cinema Club’s ability to make every performance memorable and Petey’s high-energy set made the night one for the books. As they continue their tour across the U.S., I’m sure fans in upcoming cities are in for a treat.
