Originating from Tampa, Florida, Underoath are a band that many people know fairly well worldwide. The post-hardcore band was formed in 1997 and quickly grew from there. Underoath really took off in the music scene in 2004, when they released their fourth album, They’re Only Chasing Safety. This is one of the band’s most popular albums, especially for long time fans. The band is made up of lead guitarist Tim McTague, drummer and clean vocalist Aaron Gillespie, lead vocalist Spencer Chamberlain, keyboardist Chris Dudley, bassist Grant Brandell and rhythm guitarist James Smith. Unfortunately, the band announced their split in 2012 which left myself and many other fans heartbroken. I had grown up with Underoath’s music and anticipating the day when I would finally see them live. A couple years later in 2015, however, the band announced their reunion and had their first tour in 3 years called the Rebirth Tour. This was my first time that I was able to see Underoath and I was able to get my first ever photo pass for their show in Philadelphia after meeting their lead guitarist Tim McTague. Now, fast forward to 2018 when I am able to photograph them yet again but this time with a new album (you can probably imagine I was more than ecstatic).

With the release of the band’s first album back together since their breakup, titled Erase Me, many fans were excited to hear their new sound and see their energetic sets live. I was able to photograph them on their No Fix tour when they performed at Rams Head Live! in Baltimore, MD on May 8^th, 2018 and it was such a wild show. I have only seen a few bands that have an immense amount of energy when performing and Underoath are one of them. The band stole the show by starting off by playing their new single from Erase Me titled “On My Teeth”. Underoath also played a couple old hits that really got people going such as “A Boy Brushed Red Living in Black and White,” “Reinventing Your Exit,” “Writing on the Walls,” etc. During their set, lead vocalist Spencer Chamberlain talked about how he was so grateful that the band was back together and how he could not wait to visit and perform in Baltimore, MD again. Fans were so appreciative to see Underoath playing shows again and they made sure to let loose during every song that they performed.

If you have not seen Underoath yet I highly recommend that you buy tickets and see them in your area soon. This band is definitely worth checking out and I promise you will not regret it.
