On November 29, 2018, Chicago got “Louder and Louder” with “The “Party Animal” band out of Detroit, known as Wilson.  Wilson kicked off their direct support to Steel Panther’s Sunset Strip Live! Tour as the “Dumptruck” rolled into the House of Blues in Chicago.  Formed in 2010, the five-piece rock band’s current line-up includes: Chad Nicefield on vocals, Jason Spencer on lead guitar, Kyle Landry on guitar and vocals, James Lascu on bass and vocals and Matt Puhy on drums. With their long awaited release of their third album, Tasty Nasty on August 24, 2018 via Sony Red music, along with their previous two studio albums, Full Blast Fuckery (2013) and Right to Rise (2015), Wilson was ready to rock the house down.

Wilson exploded on stage, rockin’ the crowd with the first two songs, “Dumptruck” and “Wrong Side of History,” off their new album.  Next, they mixed in a few songs from previous albums, with “Give ‘Em Hell” off Right to Rise, followed by “College Gangband” from their debut album, Full Blast Fuckery.  Back with two fun songs off Tasty Nasty with “My Hustle” and “Act My Age.”  Missed this opportunity to throw in “Summertime Tread – Tasty Nasty” right here, but they can’t play them all.  “The Flood” preceded their cover of Chumbawamba’s ever so popular, “Tubthumping” which had the audience singing along to the words “I get knocked down, but I get up again!”   Bringing the party, Nicefield paraded around with a giant drum, and later used as a stand. The band kept the high energy and enthusiasm throughout the show, bring it to a climax with three songs which really pumped the audience up: “Windows Down,” “Like a Baller” and just when you thought the party couldn’t get any better, “House of Fuckery,” with fans singing along, “If you’ve got a problem with them, then you’ve got a problem with me! We all live in a House of Fuckery!”  The 40-minute set left the audience wanting more. We’ll be looking forward to catching Wilson for a headlining show when they come back to Chicago.
