K.Flay MONO Tour

Illinois-native, 2x Grammy-nominated artist, K.Flay brought her Mono Tour to her hometown, Chicago, IL, where she sold out not one, but two nights at the Chop Shop, March 15th and 16th, 2024. This achievement is both remarkable and monumental. Despite having previously performed at much larger venues, this tour holds special significance as it coincides with the release of her latest album, Mono, her first since experiencing complete deafness in her right ear. Notably, throughout the tour, KShe.Flay is accompanied by American Sign Language (ASL) translators, ensuring inclusivity for all attendees, including those with hearing impairments. This thoughtful gesture enhances the overall concert experience, fostering a sense of belonging for everyone in the audience.

The Show

For the showcase itself, I opted to attend Night 1 on Friday, March 15, 2024, of K.Flay’s two-night stint in Chicago. Her performance left me floored! I had high expectations, and she certainly delivered. She is renowned for her captivating shows, but this tour surpassed all expectations. Sporting boxing attire, gloves, and makeup, she set the stage as if engaged in a boxing match to combat sudden sensorineural hearing loss. The energy she exuded ignited the crowd, keeping them pumped and cheering throughout the night.

This particular evening held extra significance, as two couples got engaged during the performance, adding an unforgettable touch to the intimate setting. As for the setlist, K.Flay predominantly showcased her new material while seamlessly blending in beloved classics. Witnessing the fusion of old favorites with fresh tracks was a delightful experience for all attendees.

Conclusion

Overall, the hour-and-a-half set was probably my favorite set ever. Not only because of what an incredible artist K.Flay is, but because of how much meaning this tour and show meant to her as an artist. Almost the whole tour sold out, which is so incredible. So if you can, try and see her on this tour or when she does tour again, hopefully sometime soon, go see her then because she is someone you don’t wanna miss!
