The 57th World’s Largest Music Festival – Summerfest

Summerfest returned to Milwaukee’s Henry Maier Festival Park in 2025 for its 57th year of Summerfest. The festival once again ran across three weekends — June 21–23, June 26–28, and July 3–5. As always, the grounds stayed busy from open to close. Music filled the air, but it wasn’t the only thing happening.

I was on site for six of the nine days — June 20, June 21, June 26, June 27, July 3, and July 5. Over those days, I photographed 88 musical artists, along with the moments that give the festival its personality. This master post focuses on everything happening between the stages.

More Than Music at Summerfest

Summerfest has always been about more than just the lineup. And in 2025, the grounds stayed active at every turn. BMX riders launched high above the crowd. The Skyglider carried fans across the park, offering a break and a view. Mimes weaved through foot traffic. The Ferris wheel spun late into the night.

There were parades cutting through the walkways. Canoes moved along the water. The Ferris Wheel spun late into the night. And everywhere you looked, something unexpected was happening. Acts like Taylor Flows stopped people in their tracks with hula hoop performances that drew steady crowds. These moments are part of the festival’s rhythm.

The Energy Between the Sets

While the stages pulled people in waves, the walkways told their own story. Fans moved from stage to stage. Friends regrouped. New discoveries happened by accident. And sometimes the best photos came when no band was playing at all.

This post captures that side of Summerfest 2025. The colors. The movement. The small details that disappear once the music starts again. It’s the stuff you remember when you think back on the weekends.
