57th Summerfest 2025 Weekend 1

Weekend one opened under a heat wave with blazing afternoons and heavy humidity — temperatures soared into the 90s and felt even hotter in the sun. Of the three days, I attended Friday and Saturday. Two days. Two very different lineups. And plenty of ground covered from early afternoon sets to late-night favorites. From legacy rock names to modern pop, indie, and Americana, the opening weekend delivered variety without feeling scattered.

Summerfest 2025 Headliners: Weekend 1

2025 American Family Insurance Amphitheater Headliners:

Although a separate ticket is required for the headliners of the American Family Insurance Amphitheater, the artists are always a big draw for Summerfest. For Summerfest 2024 Weekend 1, the headliners included:

  • 6/19: Def Leppard (with Tesla)
  • 6/20: Hozier (with Gigi Perez)
  • 6/21: James Taylor and his All-Star Band (with Jason Mraz & Tiny Habits)

The variety set the tone early.
Classic rock, modern folk, and timeless songwriting all shared the same weekend.

🎸 Day 2 – June 21: Crowd Favorites and Familiar Faces

Friday’s schedule leaned wide, both musically and geographically across the grounds. The day kicked off early with School of Rock, a reminder that Summerfest has always made space for the next generation. From there, the pace picked up quickly. Wang Chung brought a tight, nostalgia-fueled set, while Gigi Perez set the tone inside the American Family Insurance House ahead of the night’s headliner.

Veteran performers anchored the day. Rick Springfield and John Butler each drew engaged crowds, proving experience still counts when the songs hold up. Meanwhile, Snow Wife, and Vincent Van Great showcased the newer edges of the lineup, balancing polish with personality.

Elsewhere, The Hood Internet turned things loose, Dispatch kept things steady, and Muscadine Bloodline brought a country crowd that stayed locked in from start to finish. It was one of those days where bouncing between stages paid off.

🌤️ Day 3 – June 22: Closing the Weekend on a High Note

Saturday shifted the energy. Fewer artists on the schedule, but tighter windows and more focused crowds. Brie Stoner and Raine Stern eased things in early before the day gained momentum. Ben Rector delivered a confident, crowd-friendly set that fit the afternoon perfectly.

Later on, The Army, The Navy and The Ratboys added texture and contrast, each pulling in attentive listeners rather than casual passersby. Lindsey Stirling was a clear visual and sonic standout, blending movement and musicianship in a way that always commands attention.
