Korn and Alice (KornAIC) in Chains Co-Headline at Hollywood Casino Amphitheatre in Tinley Park, IL

As Korn started into song number two of their set, “Blind,” the audience is already jumping with fists in the air screaming along with lead singer, Jonathan Davis, “ARE YOU READY!” With the three-preceding high energy bands of Fever 333, Underoath and Alice in Chains, the audience was already amped up and Korn was about to bump it up another notch.

On August 21, 2019, rock legends Korn and Alice in Chains (KornAIC)) united and brought their North American co-headline amphitheater tour to the Chicago area, as they rocked out the Hollywood Casino Amphitheatre in Tinley Park, IL. The 30-city tour, which was produced by Live Nation, kicked off on July 18th in Del Valle, TX at Austin360 Amphitheatre and ends on September 4th in Mountain View, CA at Shoreline Amphitheatre. Also along as special guests were Underoath on all dates, plus Ho99o9 and FEVER 333 opening on select dates.

Starting out the night was newcomer, Fever 333.  Out of Inglewood, CA, the band was formed in July 2017.  The three-piece band includes: Jason Aalon Butler on vocals, Stephen Harrison on guitar and Aric Improta on drums.  Their high energy excitement erupted the venue from the first note as they were jumping, running, stomping and even sliding all over the venue.  Early in their set, Butler was found walking up an isle as he sang with a box over his head.  Later Harrison was swinging his guitar as the closed out their set.

Next up, was rock band out of Tampa, FL, Underoath, who are supporting their most recent release via Fearless Records in April 2018. Lead by vocalist Spencer Chamberlain, Underoath started out with “On My Teeth” and closed with “Sink With You.”

Formed in 1987, the Seattle, WA grunge rock band was formed in 1987 by guitarist, Jerry Cantrell, along with original lead vocalist, Layne Staley. The bands current line up consists of William DuVall on lead vocals and rhythm guitar; Jerry Cantrell on lead guitar and vocals; Mike Inez on bass and backing vocals; and Sean Kinney on drums.  One highlight of the night was the emotional tribute to Layne Staley, who’s birthday was the next day.  From the start of their set with “Angry Chair,” the fans were into the show all night, singing along with every song. Other favorite moments were: “Man in the Box,” “Check My Brain” and “No Excuses.” Alice in Chains ended the night with “Would” and “Rooster”.

Closing out the night was metal band out of Bakersfield, CA, Korn.  Formed in 1993, the current line-up includes founding members James “Munky” Shaffer on rhythm guitar, Reginald “Fieldy” Arvizu on bass, Brian “Head” Welch on lead guitar and backing vocals, and Jonathan Davis on lead vocals and bagpipes; along with Ray Luzier on drums. From the drop of the curtain, Korn started strong, starting with “Here to Stay” and closing their main set with “Freak on a Leash.”  Korn’s encore include: “4 U,” “Twist,” “Coming Undone” and Falling Away From You.”
