On Sunday, April 3, 2022, RIAA certified Gold, LA singer/songwriter, Ryan Santiago, aka Royal and the Serpent, performed at the SOLD OUT Bottom Lounge in Chicago. The acclaimed live performer, Royal and the Serpent, supported the 20+ run of shows during the grandson DEATH OF A TOUR 2022, along with Nova Twins.

For those concert goers who think, “Why go to the show early? It’s only the openers.” Well, Royal and the Serpent is why you get there early. From the start of the show, the set was a high octane pop-punk rock explosion. She is touring in support of her highly anticipated EP IF I DIED WOULD ANYONE CARE which was released in January 2022. It features recent singles “PHUCKBOI REJECTS” and “I’M NOT SORRY” as well as four brand new tracks.

Although the entire set was great, here are a few highlights that really stuck out:

Kicking off the set with “i can’t get high” got the blood pumping as she was kicking, jumping and bouncing from one end of the stage to the other
Middle fingers in the air for “PHUCKBOI REJECTS”
A unrelease new song! “happier in hell” which will be released on the last day of the tour, April 8, 2022
Can’t go wrong with Mr. Brightside (The Killers cover) as the entire audience sang along
“EAT SPIT!” Let’s just say, it was insane!
Closed out the set with the first single on Atlantic, “overwhelmed” which was released in June 2020.

The only disappointment was that the set seemed to fly by in a flash at approximately 45 minutes.

Summerfest 2022

If you missed one of her shows during the grandson tour, you’ll get another chance on June 30^th at Summerfest in Milwaukee. She’ll be performing on the Generac Power Stage at 3:30 PM. Shortly after her set, on that same day, Gayle will be performing at 5:30 PM on the same stage (all times and dates subject to change). Are they setting up for a performance together of “abcdefu”? We’ll have to wait and see.
