On March 1, 2020, I had the opportunity to shoot my favorite band Skillet and being able to see them for the 37th time.  This was by far the longest distance I traveled to see Skillet and if you ask me, it was definitely worth the 6 hour trip from my home to Atlanta where they were playing at “The Loft”.

Skillet is a Christian Rock band that was formed in Memphis Tennessee back in 1996.  Skillet has ten albums with two of those albums, Collide and Comatose, receiving Grammy nominations.  The members of Skillet consist of John Cooper who is the lead singer and bass guitarist, Korey Cooper who is a guitarist and piano player, Seth Morrison who plays the lead guitar, and then Jen Ledger who is the drummer and back up singer.

Skillet came out with a bang starting the night off with “Invincible,” and as they were singing, the crowd wasted no time joining John with the song and as the night went on the crowd sang right along with him the whole night.  This was a special night for John and Korey as they were celebrating their 23rd anniversary.  Two times throughout the night John would kiss Korey, one time as they were playing and one time John stopped everything to wish her the 23rd anniversary.  As the show went on, I heard rumors of Skillet bringing back the song “Savior” and all those rumors were correct. It was a treat to hear that song come back and is a song that should always be played in their shows.  As the band was getting ready to sing “Stars”, John sang a solo of “Be Thou My Vision.” This was definitely a good transition in the “Stars” song.  Of course, Skillet played “Monster” in which everyone in the crowd was singing, always good to hear that song.

Overall, this sold-out crowd and show was amazing and I never get tired of seeing Skillet.  If Skillet is coming around your area, this is a must go-to show.  They have some dates left here in the United States and then they will be traveling out of the States for a while.  All their dates left, as well as how to purchase tickets are on their website at www.skillet.com

The Skillet set list for March 1, 2020 is as follows:  Invincible, Not Gonna Die, You Ain’t Ready, Whispers In the Dark, Legendary, Awake and Alive, Back From the Dead, Save Me, Hero,  Anchor, Savior, Undefeated, Victorious, Be Thou My Vision, Stars, Comatose, Monster, Rebirthing, The Resistance.
