Winter Jam 2022 – VyStar Veterans Memorial Arena, Jacksonville, FL

On January 15, 2022, Winter Jam 2022 tour stopped at VyStar Veterans Memorial Arena in Jacksonville, FL. The annual Christian music tour brings the top Christian artist, as well as up and coming artist. The tour includes over 41 different cities throughout the United States. This annual tour has been the start of many artist and has been around for more than 20 years.

While many people line up outside waiting to come into the arena, the people who purchased Jam Nation tickets in advance are allowed to enter about an hour earlier.  This year, fans were able to reserved front row seats by purchasing a Jam Nation MAX ticket. Also, the Jam Nation MAX ticket gives you a backstage tour and a meet and greet and photo with Skillet.  This is an awesome deal if you ask me!  When the general admission audience begin entering, a couple artists are available for a question and answer session.  After the question and answer session, there was a Prejam party with Megan Duke, Bayside Worship, and Abby Robertson.

Kevin Quinn

During the night, there was an artist named Kevin Quinn which starred on the Disney channel on an original series called “Bunk’d” and had a supporting role in the movie “Adventures in Babysitting”.  This is the second time he has been to WinterJam and of course the girls loved him.

Newsong

Newsong have played every year since the beginning of WinterJam, as they are the ones who started the whole tour.  They were awesome and they definitely sang there most well known song “Arise”.

Shane Pruitt

Texas pastor, Shane Pruitt, stepped in and spoke for a good while and preached the Word.  Many people responded to his preaching and gave their life to Christ this night.

I Am They

A newer group called I Am They got up and sang some awesome songs. Their songs included “Scars” and “My Feet Are On the Rock”.  You don’t want to miss this band, as I believe they will have some great songs coming in the near future.

Colton Dixon

American Idol star, Colton Dixon came and performed a set of some of his most famous songs. Included in his set were “More Of You”, “Through All of It” and “Miracles”.  Usually his wife joins him on stage to sing a couple of songs. However, this year she was not able to make it since she stayed home with their little ones.  During the “Devil Is a Liar”, guitarist John Panzer, came down and pretended to go back and forth with Colton and fighting him.

KB

One of the favorites of the night was KB, who is a rapper from Tampa, FL.  This is his third time on this tour. I believe he gave his best performance he has ever given at a WinterJam. Although, the other times I have seen him, he was outstanding, this one really stuck out.  Some of his songs that stuck out to me were “10K”, “Not Today Satan”, and“Church Clap”.  If you have never seen KB, you need to make it a priority to see him. You will not be disappointed.

Tauren Wells

Tauren Wells came up next and was outstanding. This time was the best I have ever seen him in concert.  He sang most of his more popular songs such as “Citizen of Heaven”, “Hills and Valleys”, and “Undefeated”. During “Undefeated” KB joined him on stage. Together, the two put on a great performance.

Skillet

Of course they keep the best until last and that was Skillet.  Skillet put on an awesome performance and did not disappoint.  I guess the only downfall of Skillet playing at WinterJam was a shorter set. Unfortunately, they don’t get to play as long as they do when they are on there own tour.  That being said, I don’t think you can complain about them being there.  They played a couple songs off of there new album “Dominion”.  During one of their last songs, Jen’s drums came out to the middle of the stage. The band continued to play as her drum set went up and down, and spinning around. While all this was happening, she played and didn’t miss a beat.

If you get a chance to go to WinterJam this year, please do not miss it.  This years lineup does not disappoint. It has all genres covered, so there is something for enjoy to enjoy.  Go to www.jamtour.com to find out what city near you will WinterJam will be next.
