On May 31, 2019, the WhiskyX returned to Chicago for its second year. The success of the inaugural event at Soldier Field’s United Club, with a live performance by Mowgli, meant that another year was sure to happen, bigger and better.

For 2019, the venue relocated to the urban-chic warehouse in the West Loop of Chicago, known as Revel Fulton Market. The event contained great whiskey infused with music, style & chefs, which highlighted with whisky tastings from more than 60 long-established and emerging whisky brands. The evening also included local Chicago food trucks like Three Legged Tacos, top chefs, cigar lounge, trims from Blind Barber, and more. With perfect weather, attendees were able to spend time outside where the food trucks and cigar lounge was located, or enter inside for the whiskey sampling. Upon initial entry, attendees provided with a whiskey tumbler to use throughout the night. The samples given by various whisky brands poured straight from the bottles or as mixes by others. This gave many options to taste all the wonderful.  Some of the vendors we sampled were Bird Dog Whiskey (Bird Dog Black Cherry Limeade was one of our favorites), Dewars, Blackened, George Remus, Wild Turkey, FourRose, Makers, Teeling Whiskey, The Singleton, Q Mixers (who were using Bird Dog Whiskey in their mixed drinks).  We have to also mention the amazing donuts by Makers.

As if all that was not enough… wait, there’s more. The musical entertainment of the six-piece, Alabama soul-rock group, St. Paul and the Broken Bones, was up next. With the whiskey spirits flowing through most attendees, St. Paul and the Broken Bones strolled on stage. Despite vocalist, Paul Janeway, having spent Memorial Day (4 days earlier) in the hospital for an emergency appendectomy, he was up and performing for the crowd. There was a chair ready for him to rock out in, but he didn’t sit down once and kept the crown going all night long.
