North Coast Music Festival 2023

This Labor Day weekend was my second time attending North Coast Music Festival, the premier EDM event in Chicagoland. With a lineup featuring both up-and-coming artists and established groups who have dominated the genre for years, I knew this weekend would be unforgettable.

Held annually at Bridgeview’s SeatGeek Stadium, North Coast Music Festival 2023 is more than just a music festival: it’s a multisensory experience. The three-day event boasts larger-than-life art installations, a speakeasy with a daily password, and even a silent disco.

Taking into account feedback from previous attendees, this year’s festival organizers made sure that the Shipyard and Vega stages were set up further apart and elevated so that the sound wouldn’t bleed over.

For EDM lovers, Labor Day weekend in Chicago is a homecoming. Attendees affectionately known as “Coasties” spend weeks planning their outfits and hairstyles to showcase their personal style, and they see North Coast as a reunion with fellow genre enthusiasts. Everywhere you looked, there were vibrant and colorful outfits with people dancing and celebrating together.

Throughout the weekend, I had the privilege of witnessing and capturing various incredible moments and performances. The headliners at the stadium included Marshmello, Zeds Dead, and Flume. Their shows were mind-blowing and filled with energy, truly showcasing the talent that makes EDM so captivating. Effortlessly blending melodies together amidst bright fireworks, oscillating fire fountains, lasers, and smoke, each of the sets had the entire crowd entranced.

As was the case in the year previous, North Coast Music Festival 2023 is definitely a must-see event for those who love to dance (or headbang), have a good time, and vibe out to enchanting music. Make sure to check out www.northcoastmusicfestival.com so you don’t miss out next year!
