Moon Crush 2022 Day 3 at Miramar Beach

Mezcal - Moon Crush 2022

Vacation 2022

What’s better than live music? Live music while you’re on vacation! Well, sometimes life just brings you the lemonade and you don’t even need to make it. From April 21-24, 2022, Moon Crush, The Pink Moon, was coming back at Miramar Beach, Seascape Resort and we were going to Moon Crush 2022 Day 3!

After two years of no vacation due to Covid-19, we were ready for a nice beach vacation. For this year, the way it worked out, the vacation coincided with my birthday. After a drive from Chicago to Miramar Beach, FL, with a one night stop in Alabama somewhere, we arrived at our vacation spot on Wednesday, April 20.

With all our bags, snacks, etc. unloaded, we weren’t in the mood for grocery shopping and cooking, so out to eat it was. However, this was our first time in Miramar Beach and weren’t familiar with the area. We did see a nice Mexican restaurant not far from where we were staying called Mezcal Mexican Grill. Although this is not a restaurant review, I’d highly recommend Mezcal Mexican Grill.

Anyway, back to my story, on our way out from the restaurant, I noticed a large eye catching display, “Mezcal is excited to welcome… MOON CRUSH”. Specifically, Day 3 on Saturday, April 23 caught our eyes with Tedeschi Trucks Band and JJ Grey & Mofro. We caught these two amazing bands together back in 2018 at the Chicago Theatre in Chicago. (See posts from the show JJ Grey & Mofro 2018 and Tedeschi Trucks Band 2018)

For those not familiar, here are some of the descriptions from Moon Crush:

Moon Crush 2022

“CRUSH” ON YOUR FAVORITE PEOPLE

Moon Crush is a unique shared experience that brings you together with friends and family to enjoy beautiful beaches, amazing live music, and – most importantly – time together in the sun and under the stars.

MUSIC VACATION

Moon Crush is intentionally designed to be a Music Vacation – not just a festival. You can plan on spending days at the beach, by the pool, or enjoying your favorite activities with the people you care about most. Then, as the sun begins to set, you’ll make your way to our intimate outdoor venue where you’ll have a reserved space for an evening of live music.

NEW MUSIC EXPERIENCE

Once the music starts, Moon Crush combines all the things you love about a festival (a big stage under the stars with performances from your favorite – or soon to be favorite – artists, great food and drink, and loads of positive energy) – addressing some of the normal festival frustrations (big crowds, long lines, losing your spot when you get up to buy a drink, elbowing your way through a crowd to find your friends, and the feeling that you’re always missing something on another stage).

EVERYONE’S A VIP

Think of it as a place where everyone’s a VIP and can enjoy seating in their reserved viewing areas (COVE: CONTAINED OUTDOOR VIEWING ENVIRONMENT), have food, drink, and merch delivered to them, and access premium air conditioned restrooms within the venue.

Moon Crush 2022 Artists

Moon Crush 2022 Day 3

After spending the day on the white sand beach of Miramar Beach, we freshened up and headed over to Moon Crush. The weather was a beautiful evening with the sun starting to set and a nice breeze blowing. The line-up actually included four artists: Mark & Krissa, Molly Tuttle, JJ Grey & Mofro and Tedeschi Trucks Band.

As the coves started to fill, first on stage were local duo Mark & Krissa. It was a short set, but they got the crowd warmed. Next up, was the five piece band, Molly Tuttle & Golden Highway. They were a very lively bluegrass band. They left the stage with many new fans and the audience wanting more.

The southern soul-rock band, JJ Grey & Mofro had a huge fan base in the crowd.

Closing out the night was headline artists, Tedeschi Trucks Band. As always, they did not disappoint. They started out with Dr. John cover, “I Walk on Guilded Splinters”. From that point, there were great jams, more covers and fan favorites. Of course, “Bound for Glory”, “Midnight in Harlem” and Angel From Montgomery into Sugaree were highlights of the night.

All in all, this experience was unbelievable. What more could you ask for? All these great artists on one stage in a beautiful part of the country while on vacation. Hopefully, we can do it again in 2023.
